Becoming a Member
The over 3000 members of the Grad Club are derived from six membership constituencies. The first four consist of our student membership, including the Society of Graduate and Professional Students, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Education. Students in these disciplines pay a small portion of their student fees to help fund and operate the club, and in return receive a number of benefits. The final two constituencies are the PSAC 901 Post-Docs and Social Members.
Student Constituencies
As a Graduate or Professional Student you are automatically opted-in to the Grad Club fee through your student fee slate in September of each year, or January depending on your start date. This fee automatically makes you a member. If you choose to opt out of the Grad Club fee, you are no longer a member.
Similarly, the AMS membership fees for Medical students are processed through the AMS student fee slate. You must opt-in to the Grad Club fee in order to become a member.
If you are a member of the four student membership constituencies at Queen's who opted out of the Grad Club fee but would like to become a member, you may purchase your membership in person at the Club.
Post-Docs
As a post-doctoral reseracher at Queen's, you are automatically provided a Grad Club membership via your PSAC 901 Union. The Union will supply you with your membership card.
Staff, Faculty, Undergraduates, and the wider community
If you are an undergraduate student, a faculty or staff member, or a member of the Kingston community who simply appreciates top notch food and drink, you can still enjoy the many benefits of Club membership by becoming a social member! To become a social member, apply in person at the Club.
All members of the The Grad Club retain voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting, held in late March/early April each year. Members are also eligible to sit on the Grad Club Board of Directors. For more information on the AGM, the Grad Club by-laws, or the Board, please visit our Annual General Meeting page.
*The Grad Club reserves the right to revoke memberships at any time in accordance to the Club By-Laws or House Rules, per the Grad Club’s By-Laws.
